WHAT IT IS:

Medical grade chemical treatments are a medical procedure used to remove the surface layers of the skin, providing you with a vibrant, glowing, and more youthful looking skin. Chemical peels improve the overall skin function and appearance, as well as creating a mild stimulus of collagen, elastin, and keratinocyte activity. Chemical peels are classified based on their depth of penetration: very superficial, superficial, medium, and deep. Superficial peels penetrate through he stratum corneum. Chemical peels are considered a part of a skin care routine to maintain youthful looking skin. Chemical peels are also beneficial as they allow your usual skin care products to penetrate deeper. At Aria Aesthetics and Wellness, we offer a variety of superficial medical grade chemical peels.

It helps shrink skin pores and help improve the overall condition of your face and neck. It is safe for Fitzpatrick skin types I – VI. It can be combined with a micro needle treatment or a laser rejuvenation treatment. There is no down time with this peel.

ARIA HYDRATE:

This medical grade lactic acid peel is one of the most gentle peels and is inherently hydrating. After application to the skin, it forms lactate which is a component of the skin’s natural moisturizing factor. It is a very superficial peeling agent and is often referred to as a “lunchtime peel” because of its quick recovery time. It is very gentle and is preferable for those with sensitive skin. It can provide the same benefit as stronger peels, without the intensity.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Your face will be cleansed with a gentle facial cleanser. Any underlying impurities will be removed with a preparation solution. The medical grade chemical peel will be applied to the face with firm pressure. It is left on your skin for a period of time. You may feel intense warmth and flushing while the acid is on the skin. Typically, the skin will look normal the first two days, then will start feeling tight and peel on the third day. It may take up to 10 days for all the skin to peel. Some people will peel very little. The success of the peel is not judged  by the amount of peeling, rather by the end result of the peel. Regardless of the degree of peeling, the skin is still sloughing off at an accelerated rate.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT:

Recovery times will vary based on the type and strength of the peel. Immediately after the peel, your skin will feel tight and may be red. Any visible peeling will be light and fluffy and easily controlled with moisturizer. Peeling usually lasts 3-5 days, depending on the actual peel treatment. Use of gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen is important, as it will enhance the healing process and results. Normal activity may be resumed after the peel, however strenuous exercise and heavy sweating should be avoided for 2-3 days. Sun exposure should be avoided while skin is peeling; exposure of treated skin to a lot of heat should also be avoided as it may induce swelling, redness and for deeper peels blisters under the skin. Peeling skin should be allowed to slough off naturally; picking or peeling of flaking skin is prohibited, as it may lead to scarring. Use of prescription topicals should be avoided for 3-5 days post peel.
